Mikel Arteta has expressed concern that his team's chase for honors this campaign is being jeopardized by a worrying circle of injuries and a relentless schedule.

There was, on a brighter note, better news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian striker added to their Champions League squad. He replaces the injured youngster Max Dowman, who suffered an ankle injury.

"Training, no because we don't have time to train. But obviously the fact that you are missing players, you are placing demands on other players more, there's a consequence to that and it's a truly vicious circle."

Dowman's issue is the most recent in a long series of fitness problems for the North London side. Since the beginning of last campaign, they have recorded 95 player absences, the second-highest total in the Premier League.

Extended Absentees

• Defenders Cristhian Mosquera and Gabriel Magalhães are unlikely to return until the new year.

Arteta dismissed the suggestion that training methods were to blame, pointing to a lack of time for drills. He highlighted the pressure on available players, some of whom have played over 150 matches in two years.

Transfer Strategy

Despite a major off-season spend over £250 million, Arteta stated the club is unlikely planning to dip into the winter transfer market.

"At the moment we're just focusing on bringing the players back and with luck it will be a matter of weeks," he said. "We know how crucial those coming weeks are going to be."

Looking Ahead

The squad suffered their initial defeat in 18 games at the weekend, cutting their advantage at the top of the league to two points.

Focus now shifts to the European stage, where a sixth group win would all but secure a knockout phase finish. Winger Gabriel Martinelli could create a club record by finding the net in a fifth straight consecutive Champions League fixture.

"The team is disappointed with the outcome, but we have to move forward," he stated. "It's not like all is going badly because we lost one game. So we remain united."
