Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game victorious run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, however will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

My son told me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of October.

But I am not choose that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
