Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Dies in a California Vehicle Accident

The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in the state of California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.

The influential game designer passed away following his car crashed and burst into flames on a freeway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, according to.

"This represents a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
